Martin Brasier is Professor of Palaeobiology at Oxford University and works on early biosphere evolution, integrating microfossils, biogeochemistry and chemos-tratigraphy from the earliest signs of life in the Archean through to the Cambrian explosion of multicellular forms. His research interests also include the metabolism and evolution of bacterial and protistan fossil groups, especially the foraminifera.
