The pterosaurs evolved into spectacular creatures like Quetzalcoatlus, which, with its 46-ft (14-m) wingspan, was the largest flying animal known to have lived. It probably soared like an albatross, barely beating its long, narrow wings. Like all the later pterosaurs, it had a very short tail.
