The remaining ornithischian dinosaurs were quadrupedal. They included the Ceratopsia or horned dinosaurs, one of whose early families was the Psittaco-sauridae (the others were Protoceratopsidae and Ceratopsidae), the plated Stegosauria, and the armoured Ankylosauria. Scelidosaurus (Fig. 88) from the Lower Jurassic of Dorset, England, was one of the earliest ornithischians. Its body was well armoured with bony plates and spines so that it resembled the archylosaurs in its general appearance (Sect. 9.2.2).
