Rt Rt R

Division of the equation by RT renders all terms dimensionless. The terms expressing H, S, and G obtained from the above equation are plotted in Fig. 9.1 for AHo/RT = - 4 (this value is not the correct one for the reaction being considered, but it shows the interplay of the H and S terms more clearly)

For this choice of reaction (O2 + 2H2 = 2H2O), the initial reactant ratio (H2/O2 = 2) and the enthalpy change upon complete reaction (AHo/RT = - 4), the equilibrium occurs at f ~ 0.72. Irrespective of the values chosen for the last two parameters, the fraction reaction is greater than zero but less than one.

Do we really want the one thing that gives us its resources unconditionally to suffer even more than it is suffering now? Nature, is a part of our being from the earliest human days. We respect Nature and it gives us its bounty, but in the recent past greedy money hungry corporations have made us all so destructive, so wasteful.
