For a large predator, Dilophosaurus has quite a weak bite; palaeontologists can tell this from the way the muscles are attached to the jaw. Since it can't overpower its prey with one savage bite, Dilophosaurus probably slashes with its sharp claws until the victim collapses from the effects of its injuries.
